Jaya Bharata Jananiya Tanujate…

Jaya Bharata Jananiya Tanujate (Kannada: ಜಯ ಭಾರತ ಜನನಿಯ ತನುಜಾತೆ) is a Kannada poem, which was composed by the IndianKannadiga poet Kuvempu. The poem was officially declared the state anthem of the Indian state of Karnataka on January 6, 2004.

Kannada Rajyotsava (Kannada: ಕನ್ನಡ ರಾಜ್ಯೋತ್ಸವ; Karnataka Formation Day; literally “Birth of the Karnataka state”) is celebrated on 1 November every year. This was the day in 1956 when all the Kannada language-speaking regions of South India were mergedto form the state of Karnataka.Rajyotsava day is celebrated with great joy and vigour all over the state of Karnataka. The entire state wears a festive look on this day as the red and yellow Kannada flags are hoisted at different strategic locations across the state and the Kannada anthem (“Jaya Bharatha Jananiya Tanujate“) is chanted. The flag is hoisted at political party offices and several localities even as youth in many areas take out processions on two-wheelers. Religion not being a factor, the Rajyotsava is celebrated by Hindus, Muslims and Christians as well.

The poem envisages a Karnataka that recognises its position in the comity of Indian states, believes in peaceful co-existence with her sisters, but at the same time maintains her self-respect and dignity from a position of confidence and strength rather than insecurity and fear.

Once Rajanikath Sir was asked question on why he is so simple.
“I was just a bus-conductor. People have showered me with love, respect and adulation, I have to be humble. I am not doing something special. “

“When I started playing cricket, my father told me that if you are a good cricketer you will play for 15 years. If you are very good you will play for 20 years, but what after that? Remember, everything in life is temporary, my father had said. What is most important is to be a good person in life. He would say ‘I would be happy if somebody walks up to me and say that your son is a good cricketer, but I will be happier if someone tells me that he is a better person.’ I think it is important to accept everything in life with humility and stay grounded.” Sachin Tendulkar in his autobiography.

Celebrate Child within you…

13 Life Lessons Every Adult Should Learn From Kids

1. Being generous & compassionate: Sharing things without expecting anything in return

2. Never ever giving up: When children learn to ride cycles, no matter how many times they fall, they keep getting up until they succeed.

3. Not  judging people on the basis of their caste, color or religion: A child neither understands color nor caste. Why can’t we?

4. Not being worried about “What will people think”: A child doesn’t care what society will think or say.  Fake people have an image to maintain. Real people, just don’t care.

5. Understanding that life will always be a little crazy: Life is like a crumbled piece of paper, not a plain white sheet. Make the best out of it.

6. Imagination is a friend: “Logic will get you from A to Z. Imagination will get your everywhere” ~Albert Einstein

7. Question everything: Being inquisitive about everything makes kids learn things faster. Stay hungry, stay foolish.

8. Not being a coward: Be brave. Even if you’re not, pretend to be. No one can tell the difference.

9. Being genuinely happy without a reason: Life is too short to spend time with people who suck the happiness out of you

10. Smile: Kids smile back when you smile at them. Wouldn’t life be much simpler, if we did the same?

11. Expressing  ones’ true self: Life is to express yourself, not to impress others.

12. Not holding back hatred and any grudges: Letting go of the past, accepting change and adapting to it. Kids do it best!

13. And finally believing that Nothing is impossible:  Kids always believe that,

“Everything that you imagine, you can do…

And whatever you dream, will come true”

It always seems impossible until it is done. And a kid can show how it’s done.

લોકો કહે છે…

Footprints

I am the child

I am the child who cannot talk.
You often pity me, I see it in your eyes.
You wonder how much I am aware of — I see that as well.
I am aware of much, whether you are happy or sad or fearful,
patient or impatient, full of love and desire,
or if you are just doing your duty by me.
I marvel at your frustration, knowing mine to be far greater,
for I cannot express myself or my needs as you do.

You cannot conceive my isolation, so complete it is at times.
I do not gift you with clever conversation, cute remarks to be laughed over and repeated.
I do not give you answers to your everyday questions,
responses over my well-being, sharing my needs,
or comments about the world about me.

I do not give you rewards as defined by the world’s standards — great strides in
development that you can credit yourself;
I do not give you understanding as you know it.
What I give you is so much more valuable — I give you instead opportunities.
Opportunities to discover the depth of your character, not mine;
the depth of your love, your commitment, your patience, your abilities;
the opportunity to explore your spirit more deeply than you imagined possible.
I drive you further than you would ever go on your own, working harder,
seeking answers to your many questions with no answers.
I am the child who cannot talk.

I am the child who cannot walk.
The world seems to pass me by.
You see the longing in my eyes to get out of this chair, to run and play like other children.
There is much you take for granted.
I want the toys on the shelf, I need to go to the bathroom, oh I’ve dropped my fork again.
I am dependent on you in these ways.

My gift to you is to make you more aware of your great fortune,
your healthy back and legs, your ability to do for yourself.
Sometimes people appear not to notice me; I always notice them.
I feel not so much envy as desire, desire to stand upright,
to put one foot in front of the other, to be independent.
I give you awareness.
I am the child who cannot walk.

I am the child who is mentally impaired.
I don’t learn easily, if you judge me by the world’s measuring stick,
what I do know is infinite joy in simple things.
I am not burdened as you are with the strife’s and conflicts of a more complicated life.
My gift to you is to grant you the freedom to enjoy things as a child,
to teach you how much your arms around me mean, to give you love.
I give you the gift of simplicity.
I am the child who is mentally impaired.

I am the disabled child.
I am your teacher. If you allow me,
I will teach you what is really important in life.
I will give you and teach you unconditional love.
I gift you with my innocent trust, my dependency upon you.
I teach you about how precious this life is and about not taking things for granted.
I teach you about forgetting your own needs and desires and dreams.
I teach you giving.
Most of all I teach you hope and faith.
I am the disabled child.
